battery light on

hey i have a 2003 7.3 battery light came on and stayed on? the truck starts up an runs i checked the battery volts while it was running and they checked 12.5vlts. could it be the altenator? its been 3days now would it still start?

Sounds like the alternator, I think you should be measuring about 13.7V while running if alt is outputting correctly.

Check your wires had the ground break off right at the connector

Dual alternators? My top one went out and the bottom would keep charging while driving but would not charge at an idle. RV1 would be correct, 13.7v at minimum when the charging system is working correctly. My battery light was on too by the way
