Red face 2001 7.3 missing in mid range rpms

ive got a 2001 7.3 and it has a wierd miss at idle and through most of the rpm range, it has a straight pipe exhaust without any catalytic converter or muffler, i'm suspicious that the lack of back pressusre is the problem but im not sure i was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems. any help would be much appreciated.

definitely not a lack of back pressure. the turbo alone makes enough back pressure for the engine to operate correctly.

there is a lot of info on here. Id try the search function. it could be alot of different things.
