Engine knocking

I think my engine is knocking alittle. I might be wrong because it's my first diesel, and it's a 7.3. I have a turner on it, and when i set it on whisper mode, you can hear it knock, but switch back to dd and you can barely hear it over the motor. It might be just because it's a 7.3 or not. Anyone's input will help

U could crawl around the engine with a stethoscope or a metal pry bar or punch and try to pinpoint the sound. harbor freight tools has a cool stethoscope with a rod attached that might b helpful I'm gonna get one today and c how it works. I've got the same problem but mines got loud enough to just park it. Shur don't want to put a window in the block. But also the 7.3 is pretty loud, could b just hearing the injectors firing. Good luck

Diesels have a rattling sound when running. The firing impulses on a diesel engine are much more distinct than on a gasser. You might want to have a diesel tech lend an ear to see if it's normal or not.
