7.3 sound

hello everyone
i was wondering if somebody has an idea of what would make a 7.3 sound like the valves are knocking. sort of like the old time gas engines when you get bad gas. it only happens under light load about 1700 rpm. the engine is completely stock with 60,000 miles. thanks.

Possible bad injectors. You should do a buzz test and then you can do a cyl contbrution test.
The other easy way to find a bad injector is pull the valve covers off and look at the top of the injectors there is a little spout that you should see oil squirting out of if no oil or not as much oil as the rest then you have a bad injector or injectors.
You should also check the harness on the outside of the valve cover and inside of the valve cover make sure they are plugged in.
