Engine idles down or Shuts off

My buddy is having a problem with his 7.3 auto. His car idles down or shuts off when he goes from park to rev. vice versa occasionally. But it starts up right away when you turn it over. It's only from rev to park. He had a recent sel and they checked it and said something about low voltage/ output in GR. He's running DP F-5 chip. Anyone have this problem? Also his O/D light wont come on when you press the button either.

The code for check engine light was P1389 Glow Plug Circuit High Side Low Input

That code isn't the problem.
Try changing the CPS. The OD light could be a chaffed wire in the column. Which, that wire could also cause revving issues. Does it run fine other than that?

Runs fine, only dies or stalls down when you just put it in reverse with brakes depressed. Drives and reverse fine.

So if you put it in reverse and just let it go it's ok? But while in reverse and not moving it dies?

it just dies when you put it in reverse, no time to backup. but it doesn't do it all the time. enough to noticed something wrong.

I'd look for wires that are chaffed in the column, especially cause of no OD light. Does OD work at all?

od is working, i even unplugged the od wire at the column and it still does the same

Could the converter be locking-up and causing the engine to stall? Does it "lurch" first?

lurch? it doesn't have time to shift into rev yet, it idles down instantly or dies.
