Low power, cutting out when cold

Well I've got an interesting one here for the forum. I'm not really new to these wonderful engines, have been a proud owner and curser/fixer since '07. However, I have a 99 7.3 that has no power and will die then restart instantly when outside temp is below freezing, it will improve when engine is up to operating temp, but until then it has a top speed of about 35 miles an hour. Problem seems to be relative to engine fuel requirement as it will usually die under acceleration. SES light on and throws code PO344 cps intermittent while it's hiccuping but I'm already on my second NAPA cam sensor and I've already replaced the cam sensor harness plug because of terminal issues. Have heard of fuel heaters causing low power issues when cold and I'm wondering if the cam sensor code could be caused by the engine hiccuping. Might know more after I get a chance to throw the fuel pressure gauges on it but I'm putting it out there to see if anyone else has had a similar problem or has an idea.

Get an international or ford CPS. With the failure rate of those things, I wouldn't chance anything but the best. Do you have access to a scanner (not a code reader, something a larger shop would have, or auto enginuity)? There are quite a few possibilities, and the answers you get will only be as good as the info provided to us.

For now, just get an OEM CPS. They are 17 bucks from ford, I don't see why anyone would get an aftermarket one with the original being so cheap.
