Changing Glow Plug Relay???

I've got to change the glow plug relay on my 2002 7.3, and I've got a couple of questions. Do I need to disconnect the batteries first, and is there a certain order to hooking up the relay to avoid damage???? Thanks in advance.

The only damage that can occur is if the Batt + cable supply to the relay touches ground. Do whatever you have to, to prevent That!

Either cover it completely once removed or remove both cables (either +/-) from Both batteries. You could slip it into a sm piece of heater hose and tape it on....

Other than that, you can't hurt the relay by connecting it in some way.

Disconnected both battery - cables, changed out the relay, reconnected the battery cables and it fired right up. I don't have a test light to check the new relay but with upper 20's forecast again tonight the mornings start up will tell the tale!
