excessive turbo noise

My truck has 190,00 miles on it. I didn't realize the sound it was making until I rode in another deisel truck. The noise sounds like a lot of air blowing from some where. A friend got in my truck that also drives a deisel and immediatly said what is that noise. It seems to be down on power a little. Could it be a leak either before or after the turbo. Thanks

i would be looking at the Y pipe that enters the manifold that is connected to the back of the turbo first, it is a relatively common leak and would sound similar to what you are describing and cause a power loss........

you also could have a butterfly valve sticking, which can be removed or disconnected if that does end up being the cause........Marc
