Truck Stalling and/or dying

My dad has a 2000 PSD with 185,000 miles on it and lately it has been dying on him. The other day he was pulling a trailor and the truck died and restarted and chirped the rear tires real bad at about 60 mph. He said he could smell a burnt smell but couldn't place it anywhere. Then today it died completely but started right back up when he tried. He just put all new filters and fluids in it too. Any idea what the problem could be?

any check engine light....and have you tried to pull any codes......

my guess would be a cam sensor...but with the smell...it coudl possibly be something else.....codes would narrow it down, and if he isnt carying an extra cam sensor in the glove box....buy one, put it in, and if it doesnt work, put the other one in the glove box. most stalling problems on a 7.3 are caused by the cam sensor, so carying an extra is advisable in case you break down.......Marc

I'd be looking toward the Cam senser. Ford sells more of these than any other part I THINK.
