Power loss while driving in rain

My wife and I were on the highway, we had +/- 400lbs motorcycle in the bed. We drove though a very heavy down pour she complained the truck felt funny. She got nervous and asked me to drive. We switched and since she pulled over right before a bridge I accelerated hard to climb and reach speed but as soon as the engine hit 3000 rpm it immediately lost power and rpm's dropped to 2500 then 2300. Afrer another while I floored it again with the same result. The rain finally stopped and after about 20 minutes of drying when i repeated the test all was normal. Any ideas what sensor would cause this?
