crank.. no start

my friend has a 7.3 that cranks but no start.. he has a P0603 but was told it was because he disconnected his batteries.. changed fuel filters.. he turned the key on/ engine off.. he heard the fuel pump run and has a hissing noise under the hood on the driver side behind the battery

any ideas?? is there a way to check to see if the hpop has a leak or bad??

he has started it with ether but then it dies

Checked ALL fuses?

Is the WTS (Wait to Start) light going on/off like normal?

603 is pretty much a dummie code, from batteries or a chip, just means the saved PCM info (KAM Memory) was wiped. Nothing to worry about.

I'm having similar issues. Changed cps and it started just fine a few times and then nothing. After it wouldn't start I ran the codes and got 1210 and 0123.
