service engine light on but no codes??

I have a 99 f350 powerstroke with 175,000 miles have owned it since 50,000 miles and this is the first time the service engine light has came on, i have tried 2 different scanners and none are showing any codes, the truck runs great when the light is on, but when it goes off the truck starts to buck around any ideas???

THANKS
RICK

I had a check engine light that didn't throw codes. The no codes was with normal over the counter readers. A guy with a FORD code reader was able to retreive the code where the other one didn't. You may want to get your hands on a FORD code reader.
