99 F350 7.3 no low end power
Hi folks
I have a 99 F350 with a 7.3 TD (build date 4/98). This truck is completely stock and is experiencing low end performance issues. I mean the glaciers move faster than this truck. I had Ford run an engine diagnostic on discovered some turbo issues as well as being told I need 8 new injectors. I had the turbo work done and that helped performance at higher speeds but the jury is still out on the injectors. I find it hard to believe that all 8 are suspect. It would seem to me that there may be another issue like a fuel pump, etc. This is my first diesel and I am learning rapidly. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Truck info 1999 Ford F350 Super Duty Crew Cab (4 door), 4wd (manual), 7.3L TD, SRW VIN: FTSW31F2XEA65103, build date 4/98 Thanks -LB |

Usually when dealerships say you need 8 new injectors, obviously its not all 8 are bad unless of course the pump is having some problems. Never really see that one in the 7.3's but its possible. Your truck probably has injectors going out on each side, lets say 1,3 and 2,4. They are just trying to sell you 8 for up-sale which is not a bad idea, I'd just get new ones, maybe even stage 1's.

How can I determine which injectors are suspect?

what are stage 1 injectors?

Well how I pinpoint them is through IDS (Integrated Diagnostic System), but I only access that device through my ford dealership... Just see if a local private owned shop can give you a better idea
Stage 1's are an after market bigger flow injectors |
