has anyone had problems with the newer gray cps sensors?

hello everyone, so i bought my 02 powerstroke in feb this year and got a letter saying it needed recalls done, so i took it in for them they put a harness on for the cruise issue and replaced the cam sensor truck ran fine. so now in the last few weeks only bout 2k after they replaced the sensor it started haveing running issues though it was my chip. then it started hard sometimes and today it died on me but restarted without a issue. I then drove it to my gfs bout 30miles shut it off came out to leave and no start at all. needless to say i replaced the cps in the driveway with a spare the old owner had in the glove box and started rite up. what gives is this a uncommon or common problem with the new sensors? or did i just get a bad one? I was also wondering if ford will give me a new one if i tell them it failed after they replaced it and they test it?

I would ask for a replacement, I have gone thru 2-3 black ones, have had the new grey one for while maybe 50,000 miles and no issues. Have 373,500 miles on truck.
