only 10psi while towing?

Im running the superchips in safe tow mode, pulling about 7k lbs. I notice that im boosting to about 10 psi only while at moderate pedal. I did not try WOT for simple safety reasons. The truck seems under powered for pulling such a load. I see no soot at the up pipes. I can easily hit 18 at WOT without a load.

Boost leak or is 10 psi on load normal for the Safe Tow mode?

Not normal at all. When I ran the superchips 1705 i could nail 25 psi no problem. lol. very decent 'canned' tuner, bill from php himself has said its safe to run... that being said sounds like you have a boost issue.

I'm with everyone else...never had a superchips but 10psi is too low. Check for boost leaks, check the cac boots for cracks/damage and make sure clamps are nice and tight, check your up pipes (pipes running from manifolds to turbo) for leaks, look for soot around the pipes.

You should be hitting 20+psi easy even with canned tunes

up pipe leak - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

The first picture is what you'll be seeing, the pipe way in the back is what you're looking at on either side. Get a good flashlight and a mirror will make things easier.

There is a good picture of what a leaking up pipe looks like in the second post.

If your ic boots aren't leaking, the uppies would be my next guess as to why your boost is so low.
