white startup smoke/grey driving smoke
I recently replaced all 8 injectors and glow plugs (6 months ago) in my truck due to hard start/no start unless pluged in problems. The truck runs 100% better than before but now the when starting it runs a little rough and has a huge puff of white smoke for about 10-20 seconds after starting. The GPR checks out just fine and temps are no lower than 40 at night now. While driving the truck gives off a small amount of white/grey smoke. More often if the truck is idleing from stop light to stop light or when i get on it. I have noticed a small tapping noise on the passenger side of the block. More so when the truck is cold than warm but when warm is still slightly noticable. Fuel filter was changed recently along with new air filter. Im wondering if an injector tip was cracked and leaking or putting more fuel into the cylinder than it should be.. Can this happen on new injector installs? Or possibly the tapping noise is an overtightened injector where the piston is now hitting it? not sure if that is possible or not either. Anyways anyone have any ideas to what my problems could be? Kinda wondering if a buzz or contribution test would even help me? costs about $100 to get the tests ran here and i dont really wanna run one if it isnt going to tell me anything.
