Do you have any mods? Do you notice any excess smoke when driving down the road? Do you use any additives? What is the setup on your truck? CC, LB, Flat Bed, 4x4? The more information people have, the more help they can provide.

also what speed are you driving at?
I get about 11-13 towing a 11,000 lb 5th wheel if I keep it about 75 (depending on wind speed , direction, terrain, etc) but I am closer to 15 at 68 mph with the same 5th wheel rv |

How recently have you changed your fuel filters? Your oil and filter? Did you notice any oil being "made"? What weight oil are you using?
The reason I ask about the oil is you could try going with a 10w30 for oil and see if that helps any. Seeing you are in Colorado, you won't see the temps that we do down south so the 30w shouldn't cause any problems. My first guess--and I do mean guess--would be an injector that may be sending extra fuel. But with no more smoke than usual that kind of negates that. The best thing to do on these trucks is to put it on a quality scanner. Snap-On, Auto Engenuity or something similar. Also some people don't agree with this, but it could be where you are getting your fuel. If you are using the same place over and over again I would try going somewhere different. I notice big differences (i.e. 2-3mpg sometimes) depending on where I buy fuel at. |
