99 power stroke rough idle, sluggish acceleration
99 powerstroke 6spd. driving earlier today and i tried to speed up to pass a car and i lost acceleration power. became very sluggish to the point that i could barley take off. also started idling rough. pulled my chip out which made no difference. let it sit for about 2hrs and then i went to drive it and it seemed like 80% of the power was back for about 1 mile and then it was sluggish again. when it first happened my fuel milage went down to 10.5 from about 15. truck is my DD so any help would be very appreciated. id like to get it fgured out asap. thanks

forgot to add it has new icp and ipr on the truck. the only thing is after it started this issue i checked the ipr and the nut holding the spacer on was in the valley and the part that slides on was loose and i could pull it off. put it all back on and it still has the problem

Try unhooking your batteries for about half an hour. See if it will reset

plugged it in for about an hr and i got it to start. blows white blue smoke mix. still runs like crap, revs up but not as it usually should. turbo whistle isn't as loud as it was previous to the problem.

Your gonna need a scan. Do you have a spare CPS you can swap out?

as far as CPS you mean cam position sensor or crank shaft position sensor?

so a friend of mine is going to school to be a mechanic so i took it to his class this morning and put it on the scanner and did a few tests. a few codes popped up. ended up checking the reading for the exhaust back pressure sensor and it was didnt seem right. ended up jumping the lead wire to one of the other and the reading jumped way up. so all in all the exhaust back pressure sensor wasnt working right. took it home pulled the sensor out and cleaned it and also pulled the tube that it goes on and found the tube started to crack in a few spots and it was clogged pretty good. went to the stealership and got a new tube and sensor after dropping $200. put the new tube on with old sensor and she runs great now. thinking i might be taking the new sensor back to get $130 back.
