loosin alot of oil.....help
ok well i started loosin oil a few days ago, jus added mor to get me to the weekend. well today i found out that it was the dipstick o-ring. ok no big deal got another one, got it put on everything back together went around the block and still leakin. i get back underneath it an see its just pourin out where the dipstick goes into the pan. i put a new oring on it to an i jus cant seem to get it to set in place an stay in..... am i missing something?? im loosin daylight an my rigs gotta be runnin by mornin.
any help or hints would be greatlyyyyyyy appreciated thanks logan |

you probably got it to tight and deformed the o ring in one place or another. im sure you already know but this might be the most risky operation on your truck you can do. if you drop the back nut part then the engine gets to come out and the oil pan off to get it out. my guess is it was over tightened and the oring is broke.

oh yes i kno i sat on here, google an youtube watchin other ppl do it for hours but i felt confident doin it on a lift. im hopin thats it i got another o-ring comin in the morin so i hope it fixes it.

i had this issue. Replaced the o-ring and nut twice. First time i tightened the nut too tight and it leaked second time i just snugged it and it is still leaking like a sieve. But oh well.
