hi guys need help
i have a 2003 f350 7.3L, i was driving home today and truck started to run rough and loose plower. ck eng light came on pulled code # p1316 idm code.
well i was about 3 miles from home i let the truck sit for about 30mins it started up aand ran fine for about a mile. pulled over let truck sit for about 5 mins truck started up ran fine for aabout another mile, did this in till i got her home. i cheeked the valve cover harness plugs they look fine. iam woundering if any one had the same problem and had the idm go bad it self. i know the old ford ignition boxes went bad they would heat up and stop working let them sit for 5 mins and u were fine for about 5 mins. please any help would be great befor i start getting really in to it like pulling the valve cover gaskets out. thanks lot everyone for ur help

go drive it when it dies get out and check fuel bowl?

it had fuel i drained it in case water was in there befor the englight came on

1316 means the idm has in injector codes but completely shutting down and then restarting doesnt sound right for that code. may sound dumb but do you have enough oil in the truck? check the fuel bowl for fuel, after that you are going to have to start looking into the injector harness failing or coming loose. check it very close and inspect all areas that they touch. this 1316 can be mechanical or electrical but is confined to the injectors.

i did an out change last weekend soo i hope it did not kill 15qts in least then 100 miles lol iam sure that is fine i dont leak oil or burn it i always ck it every other week but i will ck frist thing in the moring befor i try driving it 4 miles to work to start the diag on the prblem

well just to let u guys know i found my left side valve cover plug was the problem cleaned the pins and terms and seem to run like a top thanks
