can someone tell me what sensor or sensor's control the fast idle on a cold engine. My 02 psd would idle up to about 1100 rpm on its own, my 99 will not.
Is your 99 a superduty or the lighter duty. I think only the superduty trucks (99.5) had the idle up. There is a sensor in the air box that mesures the air temp. Hope this helps!
not just the 99.5 ups do that, my early 99 does it too. One morning when I was at a friends apartment and unable to plug in, the temperature got down to 13 below. I waited until noon (around 0 at the time) the next day to start it and it fired but kept shutting back off. The 5th try it stayed running but ran really choppy. Eventually it idled up and when I came out to check it it was running between 1300 and 1400rpm! I could hear it all the way in the apartment! ha! Next time i'm takin my extension cord with me!
They sure make some awful noises when there cold don't they!! My dads 98 E350 doesn't idle up either. So i don't have a clue what to say. I guess you'll have to ask a stealership! Good luck and let us know what you find out.
my 99 f350 has a high idle of 1000rpm and it idles rough what may be the problem
