Many issues with a 2002 7.3
This is not my truck. It is riverszzr's truck and is located in MN. I posted the pm from him.
I just had another one of those days where my truck "stranded me" for about an hour, it has been happening more frequently in the past year. I am on Cam position sensor #6 ( 83,000 miles) and the one currently in the truck, I installed at 80,800 and by 81,200 it was already intermittantly not restarting on me, then I did a Texas trip (we never shut it off all the way there or all the way back) but since being back; Each morning I start the truck it starts right up fine, if I drive less than 20-25 miles before shutting it off, it will (about 1/3 the time) not restart for several attempts or sometimes even an hour or more. If I drive it for a good hour in the morning, it'll restart everytime Today is the first I have had a chance to read some codes (some other attempts to read them have produced no codes) So in order I P0478 (Excessive backpressure) P1212 (Injector control pressure higher than expected)--this may be from starting the truck in 10-20 below weather with 15w40?? P0470 (Exhuast backpressure sensor circuit malfunction) --I believe this ones leads to the excessive backpressure reading But I got no code on the CPS, which each time (except this last) It has immediately cured any problems, albeit only for 10-20,000 miles---which definately seems like a problem to me. I am tired of being "stranded" and not trusting that the truck will restart for me if I just have to run to pick up building materials or something that isn't an hour away. So I guess my question is; ICP higher than normal, shold I be worried? EBP senor circuit malfunction, obviously I will have to diagnose, I couldn't find any threads on here about it, but I also am not very good at search. CPS- I read alot of people are changing them every 40,000, and that is what my first one went then about 25,000 and the last several haven't made it to 10,000...any ideas for me? The truck sits alot, sometimes for 2 or even 3 weeks unsused, but when we want to take the RV somewhere or I need to go pick up a m/c or building materials I want to know it will always start for me. ( The local dealer is pretty shady, and last time I had it there, well it wasn't good) Thanks for any help Lloyd Last edited by Jarrod B; 03-23-2011 at 03:21 PM. |

I wasn't able to post or start a topic-thus the PM to someone I had Pm'd with before.
I am glad I am able to post now. I found a link on cleaning or replacing the EBP senosor circuit, so I'll start with removing that and seeing if it is plugged up or?? If I need to get a new one. Thanks for the help Oh Dave I don't have an EA, but I was sent a link to get one |

High icp code coupled with the random no start is usually the fault of the ipr valve. However I would start with monitoring the icp when it doesn't start.
