Question Bad IPR -- what are the symptoms

Any feedback on what a sticky IPR would feel like on a 7.3? How would that affect the motor ?

Thanks , RB

Anybody ? ?

The reason I ask is this : I had a a issue with a hiccup or hesitation like the key was turned off then right back on...... other than the hiccup,,, motors runs fine.

I swapped out the CPS and the leaking ICP,,, these two changes helped out dramatically. BUT, I still have a hiccup ever once in a while.

That's why I am asking about the symptoms of a sticky IPR,,,, and how that would affect the motor operation.

got help ? ? ? ?

Tks, Russ

how many miles are on the hpop?

and a sticky ipr will result in like unstable idle from letting off the gas or an injector surge when accel. or no or hard starts.

I got 160k on the truck, original pump.

Could the IPR cause a stumble like I mentioned ? at 1600 rpms and below, it will hesitate or stumble ever so slightly, but pick back up and run fine. Before changing IPR and CPS,,, it did it a lot more frequently. Now 2-3 times a day, I drive approx 50 miles per day back/forth to work.

I had the truck scanend after I changed the IPR and CPS. A CAM code was reflected, but the mechanic said that could have been casued due to me pulling the battery cables off ( I cleaned my terminals while poking around under tha' hood....)

I replaced all three 30amp relays in the main fuse box upon suggestion by the mechanic.

I guess I'll be buy a AE w/ ford bundle in the very near future. I do not have anyone close I know with any diesel knowledge , therfore I am picking up as much as i can.

Thanks Jarrod and others,,, this thing has me ready to start looking at DODGES... I need intervention ! ! !

Russ

what cps(cam position sensor) did you put in?

the borg warner cps is known for causing stalling/ intermittent stall when the windhshield wipers are on.

also is your truck hard to start cold or hot? this would be another sign of a bad ipr.
i had a failing ipr and my power was considerably less. start up time was 2-3 seconds longer as well.

getting a dodge wont fix anything my friends have spent more keeping their cummins going than i have on my powerstroke. just a whole new can of worms
