Oil leaks...advise please
Hey guys, my '99 has an annoying oil leak that I have been dreading to repair for the last few months. But the driveway is starting to look like crap
I believe its the oil pan gasket. Is there any way other than pulling the engine to replace the gasket? (note: valley of engine is dry, pedestal not leaking neither is the HPOP) Thanks |

check this video out, this one is part 2 of 2... when done go back and watch the first one. pretty good stuff on 7.3 oil leaks on an engine that is on an engine stand.
i linked the part 2 first because it covers the oil pan.. |

Great video's! Thank you, I will certainly be looking harder at where my oil leak is coming from. Pulling the engine is the last thing I want to be doing for nothing. Thanks guys

Ok, so I did some more detective work on the leak. The pan bolts are tight, the engine valley has a very small bit of oil (not enough to leak out drain hole) BUT! I think the culprit is the HPOP line driver side leaking onto the cylinder head and tracking back down the back of the block. Also, sometimes the engine will run a bit rough on start up leading me to believe that oil psi is being lost and injectors not working correctly till oil psi builds up
I have alldatapro access through work, but no where does it explain on how to repair that oil line. Anyone know of a resource to that? |
