I installed a heavy duty starter from DB about a month ago. It spins over the motor a lot faster than the stocker. I had to trim about an 1/8" off the cross member to get some clearance beside the starter. he only thing I didn't like was it was delivered with a phillips head screw instead of a hex head bolt for the small wire connection. That was easily fixed by visiting the local hardware store. I also had to create some extra slack in the wiring harness to get the wiring to reach. I removed the bracket that attached the wiring harness to the front of the motor to get plenty of slack then ziptied it after installing the starter. It was all in all a pretty straight forward common sence install.

DB .. click on NoRalPh's link (starters alternators, etc...) it takes you to DB electrical where they sell the HD starters.
Remote valve cover vent.... It is called the CCV Mod (changed my signature)... I have ran a hose from the valve cover vent to a remote location under the truck to keep all the oil vapors out of the intake. It eliminated the oil mess on the engine compartment firewall and keeps the oil out of your intercooler tubes and intercooler. Last edited by cman962; 01-16-2011 at 06:14 AM. Reason: found proper term for mod |
