starting troubles
I have a 2000 F250 and it doesn't like to start occasionally. When i turn the key the Wait to Start light comes on, all dashboard idications are all good. But when I crank it over it doesn't crank at all. I get no clicking like a bad alternator or starter.
I can use a screwdriver to jump the starter relay on the passenger side fenderwell. It only does this every once in a while, not an all the time thing. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.A reputable shop in the Hanford-Lemoore area of the Central Valley of CA would also be very helpful. (It's about 40 miles south of Fresno, CA) |

Did you check the wires on the Key switch? Maybe one wire came off of it.
After that I would check that wire to make sure power was coming out when the switch is in the Start position. Then check your starter relay to make sure it is getting power. Might want to check how much power is going to it as well. There might even be a fuse somewhere for the start circuit as well. Is it an automatic or a manual? The 2001 manual does not have a clutch pedal safety start switch (at least mine doesn't so I am assuming others don't) but I bet the automatic does need to be in Park to start, maybe it is going out or had a wire wiggle lose? |
