Wont start sometimes?!?!

So i have a 2001 ford f250 with a 7.3 in her and for some reason the truck will run fine except for on random days. It will crank normal and strong but wont fire. Come back in a few hours and she starts up fine and wont happen again for 5+weeks. Will start with starting fluid. It has happen during the summer and now winter. Take it to the shop and the truck sits there and starts up fine everytime. Call for road side assistance to get it towed and it will start up as the tow truck arives ?!?! im lost at this point. It not a no start issue because it will start and run fine for weeks even months. anyone have any similar issues?

hey, i just posted a thread about our bus. won't start sometimes at which point my driver says he hears a "crackling" sound under the hood. does this happen to your truck? Have you fixed it yet? I know next to nothing about diesels as this is our first...
