Question Fuel gauge/sender blues

I recently had a new sender installed...the old one was definitely bad---corroded plate and the guage was al over the place.

I had the dealer do the work (shudder ) becuase I've been working 70 hour weeks... so these are Ford parts (ohh the markup) and a Ford mechanic...

Now the guage is rock steady, but falls at almost exactly twice the rate it should... this is a short bed with a 27/28 gallon tank... when the guage read 1/2 tank I filled it and it took a little over 7 gallons to fill (should have been around 14)...

Good news: I thought my milage had fallen to half of what i was getting.

Bad news: I paid alot of money for a guage that still doesn't tell me how much fuel is aboard.

Before I go back to the dealer, I thought I'de ask you diesel Gurus is there some sort of calibration they should have done... or????

Thanks in advance for any help!

Scott
