stutter at low throttle take off

I have an early 99 7.3 PSD with 190000. As of late I am getting a slight stutter on easy take offs. If I accelerate a little harder it goes away and the problem only happens periodically. Not sure if it is related I have had other PSD but the engine seems a little noisy to me even for a powerstroke. It sounds almost like an exhaust leak on a gas burner.
