7.3 confusion - Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum

7.3 confusion

One of my friends has a fairly well built 7.3 that is just a pooch.
The truck has:
a hi tech big bad wolf turbo
an ATS intercooler
an edge chip
5" exhaust
a built engine
AFE intake
Fass 150
tranny work(not sure what all been done but I do know the trannys been out of the truck twice)
and a few other minor odds and ends.

But when you hammer on it the truck just falls on its face. My '05 6.0 with an SCT would keep up if not stomp it. I am guessing the problem probably lays in the chip and it not having a custom tune. But if anyone has a possible in site I would love to hear.

Hard to say... I would assume he has gauges, what are they telling you? Got boost? High EGT's?

Any injector changes?

If its still got stock injectors Its gonna seem slow compared to your looney tuned 6.0

Youve got a little over 100hp on him if thats the case

sounds like your oil system/inj's are runnin out of juice. but idk thats just my $.02

What this nation needs is cleaner thoughts and dirtier fingernails...

You need injectors and a some new tunes to really wake it up

way over my head there, but yea with all that stuff done to it you might think of some custom tunes first, cause 2g's for inj's is alot compared to 300ish for custom tunes.

Any TS chip with custom ones will work, I have Elite's but alot of people like TW, beans, and there are alot of others. Or a DP is another version of the TS chip that has them, Links to all these are under the 7.3 mods section

What this nation needs is cleaner thoughts and dirtier fingernails...
