bad injector - do I need to replace all of them?

2002 Excursion 7.3 - was told I have a bad injector and I need to replace all of them. Truck has 138k miles. Something about the timing would be off if I only replaced the bad one, etc..$1600 vs. $350. IS there a need to replace all 8 injectors if you have one that is bad?

General rule of thumb is that you can replace up to 3 bad injectors at once, but you should replace all 8 if you have 4 or more bad.

Yes, you can replace 1 injector by itself. And I'd also recommend you find someone else to work on your truck.

If you want, private msg me and I can get you a number to Diesel Injection Services. They rebuild diesel injectors, pumps, and turbos and are MUCH cheaper if you wanna go that route. That would save you a little on parts.

Ok long story short. Fuel pump died on the way back from FL. drove about .5 miles once it started jerking and missing real bad with no power. 20mph is as fast as you could get. I replaced the fuel pump and ever since it has had a little miss to it. buzz and contribution test showed everything was ok. CPS was replaced by Ford at 110k, truck now has 138k. is the only way to tell you have a bad injector if contribution and buzz tests are ok other than throwing a code to pull the valve cover off and visually inspect them while running?VC gasket tested out ok as well. I am stumped. Mechanic said that one or two injectors might have gotten scored a bit being starved for fuel when the fuel pump went out and if I was going to replace them to replace them all at that mileage. Anything else to try or test out?

subscribed - did the same to mine and ever since i got it back it does not run right. Absoulutely no power in stock setting to a point its a complete hindrance to anything on the road.

IMO..Get a set of stage 1's single shots with a TS chip with custom programing..less than what you will pay for new Inj's from the dealer if you need all 8 . Better mpg's and HP..If you want a quote please PM.
