normal running temps? Truck wont warm up
What is the normal running temp for a 7.3? Lately my truck won't get much above 150* and usually it stays at about 149. I have a vegetable oil conversion on it and I thought maybe this could cause it to warm up slower but even after driving for a long time it still stays right around 150, and this is unloaded, both city and hwy. During the summer it would get to about 165 but this was during 110* heat outside, and now its been around 60-80 so I don't see how it could be too cold. And since it won't warm up I can't run it on vegetable oil. Any ideas??

Could your thermostat be stuck in the Open position?

How could I check this?

Really, the only way to be sure would be to take it out and look at it. At that point, you might as well just put a new one back in either case
![]() I'd go get a new one (their not expensive) and put it in, see if it fixed the problem.... |
