early 99 7.3 idle lope at start up and rough idle

I have an early 99 f350 7.3 auto. At cold start up the idle lopes unless you touch the throttle a little. Once it is warm it starts up fine. It runs rough when cold and at idle it seems like the truck shakes. the check engine light is on and the scanner I used says no codes found? I am new to diesels, so sorry if I am asking dumb questions. my next step is to take it to a garage with a different scanner and see what they come up with. Any advice would be great.

when yours first fires up like that - rough and loping - does it take a while to be able to actually accelerate with it? mine does the same start up deal and then i gotta let it come up to the low warm mark otherwise i can floorboard it and it barely moves, once warm it accelerates ok till fully warm, then all is good. My truck is also an early 99 f350

the scanner will not always tell why the ses is on. you will need a mechanic scanner or a AE scanner. might be a sticky ipr. when it stops lopin, does the ses go off?

thats another thing, i've never seen the ses light except when i first turn the key on.

The ses light is always on. When I start it cold it lopes unless i give it a small amount of throttle for about 10 seconds, then it will idle ok. I had a tech use his snap on scanner and a bunch of codes came up, ecm, batt unhooked, fuel pressure too high or low. I put a new fuel pressure regulator on it over the weekend and it didnt help. Now I am $200 poorer. I might try new o-rings for the injectors. Seems like the cheapest thing to replace right now.

for all 8 injector orings is still over $100 from ford when i did mine.

does it smoke at start up?

Hi guys new to this just signed up I have a 99 f250 7.3 with 4" exhaust all the way back k&n intake I just bought the truck and I put a edge evo II in it it's a 6 speed and in neutral if I rev it up it lopes when return to idle and if I'm in gear and push the clutch in it will do the same could this be the ICP
