Dropping the Fuel Tank!?

Ok so my WATER IN FUEL light has been on for about a week and a half now and i still have a HUGE loss in power. I replaced my fuel filter and it didnt help a bit and the light is still on. I am thinking about dropping my fuel tank this weekend to empty and dry it out....any tips? Also, is there another fuel filter other than the one under the hood and is there a fuel/water separator somewhere that im not seeing? Thanks for the help!

Go slow, And get the tool to remove the Fuel line form the tank. Also I had trouble gettting the tank cap back on. someone told me to heat it up in hot water b4 hand. Its not that hard except for getting it back in and that just takes patience

Well i called a diesel mechanic and he said from my symtoms there is no fuel in the tank. he also had me drain the fuel bowl into a clear cup and there was no water in it whatsover. He seems to think its a sensor of some kind. We checked MAP and exhaust pressure sensor over the phone and both seemed to be working fine (unplugged them and ran the truck) so now im back to square one.....any ideas? Throttle sensor? I just dont know without a scanner what could make it lose power that has to do with the WATER IN FUEL light?!
