Got a question I have a 96 f-250 with 145,000 on it I have 4inch exhaust turbo back bully dog air intake and a superchip I'm running it on tow performace and not pullin anything it has started cutting out you can be going down the road and it will cut out more less missing then I was over at a friends house and left it idle and it just shut off by itself thought maybe it could be the cam sensor on the wiring harrness under the valve covers it does'nt do it all the time no check engine light and no codes any suggestions on this thanks for your time.

From the reading I've observed on this forum, sounds like the Cam sensor. I haven't had one go yet so I don;t know for sure. Some one will be here soon to give a more positive answer.

if its missing and not just a simple stall it probably isnt the cam sensor....although you cant really rule it out. i would be looking at the connectors and wiring on the valve covers and under them. pay particularly close attention to the actual plugs where the pins are. on the pre 99 trucks i have seen them with some burnt pins.......which could cause an intermittant concern like you have. other than that....its tough to diag something on here like that just due to the fact that its intermittant...and its not setting a code to give me a starting point........Marc

Engine missing - mee too

It sounds like we have the same problem. Mine is a -95 with 150K. Once in a while it "skips a beat" - looses power for a spilt second. Sometimes it shuts off when I'm stopped. It starts up again right away. Let us know if you find the problem - I'll do the same.

Engine missing - wrong forum

Sorry, just realized this is the 99-03 forum. I'll move to 94-98.

Engine Missing

David Linam and dagbja,

Downunder here. I have an 03 7.3 with only 10,000 Km on it and the symptoms you describe happened to me. Occassionally missing a beat and losing power momentarily and stalling when you pull up yet would start again straight away.

It took the Ford dealer some time to locate the fault but they replaced the injector control sensor and it has been fine since. That's what they told me anyway. Perhaps Marc could comment on this.

Regards, Downunder
