Fuel Pump problem

Okay here is the situation. I went to pull out of the driveway today, and the truck started to run rough, pulled back in the drive shut it off, checked the oil and topped it off, started it back up ran fine for a minute, went to take off and started to run rough again, so then I changed the fuel filter, started it up ran good went to take of again, and started running rough, so I just let it idle for awhile, it slowly ran rougher and slower, shut it off then turned the key back on, and noticed I could not hear the fuel pump running. I crawled under the truck felt the pump and it was hot. So i am thinking bad pump. I also checked to see if I was getting power to the pump and I was not, checked the fuse and it is good. pulled the pump and hooked it up to a battery and it seems to work fine, hooked it back up to the trucks wiring harness, and now it runs but only for a little bit ( fuel lines not hooked up)... I did get one code 0232 fuel pump driver off condition, but that showed up after I had unplugged the pump.
any help or advice would be appreciated

Swap the relays under the hood and see if the relay is getting hot and cutting off.
