2001 7.3 want start sometimes

I had trouble a couple of times with my 2001 F350 7.3 starting. It would turn over fine but would not seem to fire off. I noticed the tach jumping all around wildly. When it does this it want start. Had to cycle switch about 6 time to get it to start the other day. It has done it in the afternoon when it was in mid 90 deg. I have noticed that sometimes the tach will bounce alot on start up. Could there be something going on with the camshaft position sensor. Any advice on this. Thanks
