early 99 Powerstroke f250 with 250,000m, ran like a champ until the other day it sputtered misfired and just died in the intersection. Acted like it wanted to start but wouldnt. Had it towed to ford dealer. It had a recall on the CPS, so they replaced that, still not running. Fuel filter is good,Here is the diagnosis from ford, performed test found 1,3,5 and 7 fail, during test truck ran smoother, rechecked and found only cyl 1,3 fail. So they removed valve covers to check harness plugs, all connected (but put the wedges to secure plugs better for future) Reinstalled and ohm tested injectors, all test electronically OK, and I believe they Buzz tested as well, ran another test poppin code P1298, test recommends replacing IDM (but IDM cannot cause individual cyl failure, but can cause cyl banks to fail) ??? HELP is greatly appreciated! Replace IDM, injectors, IPR?
Thanks |

They installed wedges on the backside of the plug to make sure the plugs are secure, made sure all connections are solid, didnt replace any harnesses |

Should have replaced all the harnesses on that side and wouldn't be a bad idea to replace the glow plugs, all 8. Replace the solenoid and should be good.

thanks for the help, would glow plugs and relay cause it not to start? I replaced the IDM today and it acts like it wants to start, kinda hiccups and blows fuel out the exhaust, then had code 0247 which is wastegate solenoid, cleared it with my scanner, Im charging batteries then try it again later

Crank it 15-20 seconds and then giving it 1-2 minutes to cool. Do this a few times and see if it fires off. Getting greyish/white smoke out of tailpipe?

Keep cranking on it and see if it fires. No more than 15-20 secomds at a time.
