1997 powerstroke oil leak
I have an oil leak on my 1997 ford powerstroke. Took it to the shop...and they pressurewashed it and said that it might be timing cover? I looked and it seems to be up top...near the manifold but not the HPOP... the leak is on the left side and the oil filter was totally soaked when i took it in. They ruled out the oil cooler and filter..said it was coming from up above. I can look down from above (near air conditioning compressor) and see the front oil plug on head. Doesnt seem to be leaking there. There is also a fuel line? going into head, not an oil line...Almost seems like oil is coming out of there..not really sure tho...I was quoted $1500 to changing timing cover gasket...I dont think this is the problem though....If there are any common oil problems that come from the top of this engine that i havent ruled out...could someone please comment.
Thanks, Mark |

Most generally they leak from the HPOP or the turbo, but they can leak from anywhere, you just have to you alot of brake clean and get in there with a flashlight and root around until you find it most generally the problem with present its self with a little bit of persistence
