Truck randomly didnt start one morning. It was cranking fine and no start. Changed the CPS Still no start. Charged both batteries, it started. Now my Service engine soon light is on and the computer wont show any codes. Could i possibly have put it in wrong? It also sounds weird when i step on the gas when its in park when it gets to high rpm it sort of shutters...

What code?

If your batteries are just a little low on cranking amps the computer senses that and will not start the engine, maybe you need new batteries. mine did that sometimes, new batteries, never did it again.

What did it turn out to be? I have a similar problem right now.
No check engine light...but I have a slight miss and some white smoke. My ICP, IDM and CPS are all new within the last 8 months. White smoke and rough idle (will drive fwy speeds no problem, but with some light white smoke, not heavy) Did you ever figure your issue out? |

Have yall noticed the fuel level having anything to do with it?

Interesting you should ask that, mine is my daily driver so I had to bring it to work today. Low fuel light was illuminated on the way to work, and being in a hurry i didnt stop to get fuel.
On the way home, there are no stations with diesel near work...so now I realize I am painfully low on fuel and guess what, engine looses power almost completely, limps along for a couple miles, then dies. Was able to start it up after a couple minutes and limp to a station. Now smoking more than ever and running very rough... any thoughts? fuel filter? plug in fuel line? injectors? injector o-rings? |

O-Rings on the turbo maybe? On thefwy I couldnt get more than 11 lbs boost. |

Hey, the subject of your post said "white smoke is a timing issue"
Well, thanks to your input...I unplugged my MAT sensor to give it a try...BINGO....white smoke gone. For anyone else reading this and usure of the purpose of the MAT sensor - MAT:Manifold Air Temperature sensor Strategy input; The PCM uses this signal to adjust fuel and timing. 99 model/year engines. PID: MAT Thanks for the heads up man, ill be ordering a new one.
