fuel pump issue

on my 03 excursion 7.3 Does anyone know if the fuel pump on the frame rail, under the drivers door makes any type of noise when the key is turn on or during cranking. MY TRUCK WONT START NO FUEL IN FUEL BOWL

Turn the key to on position and listen under driver side door on frame rail. It should hmmmmmmmmmmmm if it is working. How much fuel is your gauge reading?

the tank is full, we just filled it up (with diesel) and broke down about 3 miles for the gas station. i manually filled the fuel filter bowl and still wont start. hopefully its still air in the lines.

Have you opened the fuel drain valve and turned the key on and off to let the pump get any air out of the system? If not try that, just put you a piece of heater hose over the nipple of the fuel drain so it can easily be ran into a can of some sort to avoid a big mess of diesel on the ground. Turn the key to on position and let fuel pump run till it goes off about 5 -6 times then try and start the truck.

i have tried that, thats why i manually filled the filter bowl. the bowl does not fill itself with key cycles. But Im not sure if there is something else not telling the pump to turn on. Although I do have power to it when I cycle the key. Still not firing. Im not trying to crank the starter until it needs to be replaced too.

so you are hearing the fuel pump pump or not? also have you checked your fuses and do you have a scanner to check for codes?

the truck is home and im not. so i dont know about the fuel pump noise yet. i have checked the fuses and i had a p1670 code. That's an IDM code. im trying to narow down the problem before i start throwing parts at it. i hear the IDM is $1600

and i dont know if im getting that code because the idm is not getting fuel
