Code P1316
Drivin along today down the hwy, the SES light came on and the truck was shaking bad! I obviously realized quickly that the shaking was because the engine was missing. Had hardly any power. I was able to manage 65 on the hwy the rest of the way home. Did the KOEO scan on the craftsman scanner. It came up with p1316, IDM. I have read on here that most of the time this is an easy fix, taking off the VCs and puting the new harness clips on. Can any body tell me what a good price on these would be? Also, anything else I should look for? Happy Easter all!

Had the same symptons.
Did the repair yesterday. Looked down the harness with a VOM from the IDM connector and found two (2) injectors with very high resistance. Assumed it was a loose connector. (What is the trick in removing the spray shield to access the IDM? I got it opened just enough to access the plug) Opened the RH valve cover and found the connector toasted. Replace the cover gasket and UVC harness. To answer your question : Part# 2C3Z 14A163 A8 "Retainer" - $14.88. Three (3) wedges come in the package so you get a spare from Ford. Mine is in the glove box with the "spare" CPS. FYI - Cover gasket and harness $200.00. Regards Dave |

Also look at the plug going over the drivers side valve cover. Undo the plug roll the plug over and look at the wires that are rubbing on the valve cover and see if any are rubbing through. Mine did the same thing and I had one wire that was rubbed through and shorting on the valve cover. Taped the wire up and is all good now. I still need to pull the valve cover and do the clips on the connectors.

I ended up having to replace the passenger side fuel injector harness. the plug under neither the valve cover was burnt for some reason. after thinking about it, could the stancor GP relay be the culprit of that? I know it throws more power to the glow pjugs, but could it burn the plug?
