Cranking issue...

Sometimes I will get in my truck, and it won't do anything... let it sit for a few minutes and then it cranks... intially won't turn over or anything... could this be the gpr????? Also, my truck has 2 relays, are they both gpr or something different.??????

I'm pretty sure what you're dealing with here is Voodoo

OK, so no, the GPR relay can't effect the starter engaging (the second relay up there is for a heater in the intake). I don't know what just "letting it sit" could do for you other than just being an intermittent problems cure....

You have to dig farther and follow the flow of events that should happen when you turn the key (anything from the starter itself - kew sw - relay - Neutral Safety sw - even the batteries)

Does it crank at a good speed once it starts?

Do you hear any "clicking" even thought it doesn't crank?

Tried putting it in "N" instead of "P"?

Tried hitting the starter motor with a hammer a couple of times when it does it?

You need to do some more investigation....

Man I knew I shouldn't have did that voodoo doll that looked like my truck!!!! It does crank great when it spins over... as far as a click, I faintly hear one like under the dash. I have tried it in neutral, same result. As far as tapping starter, haven't had to yet....

If you get a test light connected to the starter itself you could see if it's getting 12v when your turn the key to "crank". If not back-up to the relay and see if it's seeing 12v coming from the key then. OR it is not "throwing" when it does....

You might have to jump-out a bad Neutral Safety Sw.

Like I said, follow the flow of what's supposed to happen

im having problems with a starter relay or igintion switch when i go to start my truck SOMETIMES it does nothing, the lights in the dash just go off like it would when the trucks starts normally no clicking or nuthing so i jump across the soleniod on the starter and itll start so wat im askin is were is the starter relay or fuses for the starter and also my truck only has one starter solenoid which is on the starter itself ive seen 7.3 with 2 with one on the pass side behind the battery on the fender well is that normal should i just put a push button start on it or is that more work than replacing the relay or the fuses
