99 f250 7.3....running rough and shutting off

has been running rough at mid throttle...yesterday on the highway it shut off but cut back on right away,this morning it did it again but stayed off , i pulled over and it started back up and made it home this time the check engine light came on ....i replaced the cps after it started acting up yesterday but it made no difference...it started running rough a few weeks ago so i repaced the fuel filter,air filter even changed the oil and oil filter with no luck any feed back would greatly be appreciated, thanks

Well - if your SES light came on, you have codes stored. Remember that a generic code reader like the ones at AutoZone won't read the codes on a PSD. You need a high end scanner like AutoEnginuity with Ford Enhancement or SnapOn.

My first guess would be that you have a under valve cover harness that is loose. Very common on these trucks. The plug works its way loose and has intermittant connections and eventually none. Ford sells a clip that will tighten the plug, or you can do the quarter trick:
