Advice on tackling some codes.
I posted this in the tranny forum, but just got it back from the tranny shop and he gave me the codes.
Ok I have a 2001 Econoline E350 super duty diesel 7.3 ltr turbo powerstroke and tranny is 4r100. Ok when I first start off it has a massive lack of power sometimes it shifts very late also but only when it's first started it seems. At around 45-50 with OD off it starts to shutter and vibrate steadily turning on OD stops this, at around 65-70 if OD is on it does the same thing turning it off stops this, it also seems to lack power. P1670 (Ef Signal not detected) p1316 (injector circuit/IDM Codes detected) p1139 (WIF Sensor) p0672 (Glow plug #2) p0674 (Glow plug #4) Any advice? Would any of these codes cause this problem? I'm going to go start tearing into it later this week, start off bye checking the sensors ect. Btw a squirl did chew of some wires in there around a year ago and I thought I got them all fixed this could be related but the problems just started up. |

Well still not sure what to do to start tackling my problem, I've been tearing threw the wiring harness trying to find were 3 wires go they come out in about the middle of the main harness cluster and they look chewed off I have a white/red stripe, tan/orange stripe and a orange/teal or light blue stripe.
I don't think this is the problem but it may be causing one of the codes and still need to fix it but I cannot find were they go. Any help/advise would be much appreciated. |

Here is the 7.3 wiring. I posted this awhile back.
99-03 7.3 engine wiring harness diagram... Every 7.3 owner should have... P1670 EF Feedback Signal Not Detected The EF signal is basically a wire that runs from your IDM to PCM. The broken wires in the harness you found NEED to be fixed. The other codes *COULD* be caused by your first code, fix wiring first. Rescan. |

ty the wire diagram you have is much better then mine.

I have tons of 7.3 crap laying around from years of dealing with them. I've built a few harnesses off of that diagram for use on test stands.

Still tearing thru the harness, so if the ef signal wire is good would that mean the IDM has a problem? and would any of these codes cause the shuddering at 50-55 without OD on and 65-70 with OD on?

*If* the wiring is good, then there might be an issue with the IDM.
But with the range of codes you have, I suspect there is a harness issue, connector issue, and possible a under valve cover harness issue before just pointing at the IDM. |

well I went threw the harness from the pcm and idm everything looks good EF wire is fine.
Spent the last few hours pulling the drivers side valve cover off and really have no idea what I was expecting to look for but to me it all looks good the again you can't see **** cause it's an ecoline van. Anyone no of any shops around the sacramento/sf bay area that aren't rip off artists and know what there doing? |

ok I noticed the harness inside the vavle cover was loose so I pushed it in fired it up used my little code reader cleard all the codes shut it off refired it rescanned and now I have no codes. So i'm going to get the retainer clips for the harness put them on put it all back together and take it down the road, hopefully that was the issue it seems likely that the codes would pop up at an idle right? or you think I still might get them after I take it down the road?
