slow to start, sometimes dies immediately

I have a 01 f650. It has incorrect ecm (long story) and throws all kinds of codes, most of which are not possible for this truck (ecm's evidently for a f250/350). So, I can't really believe any codes until I find a 650 ecm. Anyway the truck cranks several seconds before starting and one time I got it started and it died within 2 seconds. Did this several times before it finally started and ran. Hasn't happened again but the ford tech suspected possible hpop problem? truck seems to run fine once it's started and running. Any ideas? Im a newbie so dumb it down as much as possible.

bump. I think I should be calling the computer the "pcm" rather than ecm. any ideas?
