fuel tank question??

Long story short, I've been chasing a miss or chugging in my engine.(01 7.3)
After putting in a injector and cmp thought I found the problem. Truck ran
great miss was gone. It that time the gas tank was down to about 1/3. Fill
up today and the miss is back. I've been chasing this for about 3 weeks maybe more. So, I'm guesing I need to drop the tank..Any ideas???Thanks

Does the sending unit have a filter on it? I didn't check fuel pressure

Have you tried to get any codes read? This would be the first place to start as the miss could be totally unrelated to fuel. Possibility of UVC harness, IDM, IPR and the list goes on. Many of the auto part stores have code readers that can not read DTCs from our Powerstrokes.

The fuel tank pickup has a large screen on the foot and what is called 'mixer screens' in the pickup lines. The screens can get clogged or allow excessive amounts of air into the fuel stream. This is more common when the tank is low, not after you fill. It also usually appears like a 'no power' condition rather than a miss.

no codes just had buzz test done everthing passed. Icp was good. I did change out #3 injector. On the cylinder contribution test it was working a little harder so thought it might be leaking down. Miss was still there, so I had a extra cmp I installed that and miss went away. Instantly after filling the tank it was back. New fuel filer, back pressure is deleted, oils good, running standyne in the tank. You think it would be worse with low fuel, if the tank was the issue. It's strange though instantly it was back after filling up? What gives here???

What county are you in?

Sorry I'm not really helping - but if you're close or your truck breaks down I might be able to help in a pinch!
