glow plug reala and start silonoid

how do you konw when these are bad?

When I turn the key to start nothing happens, i turn it back and fourth a few times and eventualy it fires right up. what is the cause of this, it has good power from the battries its like theres a silinoid bad or somthing.

To check your glow plug relay - read this:

Hard/No Start? Check here first. - Diesel Forum - TheDieselStop.com

Your starter relay can get sticky - most people test it by having someone whack it with a hammer while the other person holds the key in the start position. You could put a test light on the small terminal and confirm it is getting voltage with the key in the start position - if the solenoid isn't responding - its bad.
