Truck won't start
Ok, I just got done with a long trip pulling a car trailer with my 2001 f-350 with a 7.3 powerstroke. I got to my destination, shut the truck off, started it, pulled it in a heated shop and shut it off again. I had to fix a problem with my trailer plug. So I go that done and went to start it to pull it out of the shop and all it does is cranks over. The wait to start light won't come on. I have ohm tested every fuse and they're all good. I was told it was the glow plug relay so to test it, I ran a wire from the battey straight to the relay and it connects and the wait to start light comes on. I also have a computer to diagnose the problem but it says "no communication" but it works if i have the jumper wire connected to the relay but that didn't have any info. Please help!

Sounds like the PCM isn't running... No WTS light and the scanners lack of communication means the PCMs not controlling anything.
Recheck the fuses carefully, especially #30 & #19 (#30 is tied to the heater element in the bottom of the fuel filter and it's not uncommon for it to short-out and Kill the PCM fuse it's with. Simply unplugging it and replacing the fuse will solve) |
