part time start

I have a 99, 7.3 Will start sometimes and run like new, other times wont even try. Never know when it will start. It started the other morning, drove around couple of hours got back home turned it off went to start about an hour later aint started since. Have changed fuel pump and filter, low pressure oil pump, has new oil & filter. Had starter and batteries checked. Dont know wat else to do. Thanks

That is camshaft sensor right?

Thanks for ur help, that seems to have fixed it!!!!! Had changed it couple of years ago but the symptoms were different and the part was under recall. Thanks again, Jimmy

Ok here we are again. Truck started ran 2 hrs. started missing and died, would start back,made it home died and wont start again. Sometimes when it wont start can let sit for couple of days then will start and run great then will start missing and dying again. Am goin crazy please help!!!!!!

Did you ever find the problem. My 01 seems to do the same thing, Any help would be great

Turned out to be the IDM (injection drive module) has been running fine and it starts easier now too.

This might help some others, before i changed the IDM if the temp got below 50, it wouldnt start without plugging it in, but now it starts right up

I was gonna suggest IDM. My buddy has this same problem.
